We are hiring a night shift Water Treatment Operator to work at the Saint Paul Regional Water Services.

Here’s what you can expect to do: Control the flow of water into and throughout the treatment processes, from the incoming conduits through rapid mix, lime softening and flocculation, settling, re-carbonation, filtration and disinfection. Monitor and adjust the appropriate application of treatment chemicals during the process. Tracks and adjusts flow rates as needed. Perform appropriate chemical analyses and monitors the chlorine residual, turbidity, alkalinity, and temperature levels. Monitor performance of plant machinery and makes minor maintenance and emergency repairs. Evaluate water treatment control parameters to track plant operations and makes necessary adjustments. Information Specific to this Position: This position operates on a rotating schedule, with night shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, four days one week and three days the following week. Initial training will be conducted during day shifts, lasting between 8 to 12 hours.

Qualifications

Must possess a Class D Water Operators Certificate from the Minnesota Department of Health by start date.

AND must meet ONE of the following requirements:

Two years of experience as a Water Plant Worker or equivalent experience assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of buildings and equipment, pertaining to water treatment, water pumping, and lime recovery operations.

OR

Completion of a post-secondary water or wastewater treatment program as specified by the department.

OR

Two years of post-secondary education which must include courses in mathematics or chemistry.
