We are hiring a Housing Counselor that will help assist unsheltered individuals in securing resources and crisis intervention.

Here’s what you can expect to do: Provides street outreach and engagement with people living in a variety of places including but not limited to unsheltered environments, shelter settings, and community drop-in locations. Coordinates with a variety of agencies to assist in helping individuals get their most basic needs met through a prompt and consistent delivery of services. Conducts initial assessment, crisis intervention, and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional and/or behavioral responses while prioritizing residents safety. Provides information, referral, intervention strategies, and assistance in deescalating crisis, if there is no imminent risk of harm to self or others. Documents interactions with residents and maintains accurate and timely case notes on all client contacts and activities tied to the client. Refers urgent cases where there is risk of harm to self or others to the appropriate hospital or crisis residence for emergency psychiatric or other crisis intervention services, to St. Paul Detox, or to Adult and Child Protection where there is evidence of neglect and/or abuse of Vulnerable Adults and/or children. Qualifications

Four years of experience in the areas of housing, housing advocacy, social services, or a closely related field.

Two years of post-secondary education in Housing, Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field maybe substituted for up to two years of experience.
