SEH is seeking an experienced Economic Development Representative to join our growing Community and Economic Development serving Minnesota and surrounding states in our Central Region!

The Community and Economic Development team at SEH focuses on helping communities become the places where businesses thrive and people live their best lives. This team believes that successful development should be community-minded and benefit everyone – cities, and investors, and the people who live and work there. Using a comprehensive approach, this talented group considers land use planning, engineering, and environmental factors and helps clients identify and secure funding ensuring visions become reality.

Responsibilities

This Opportunity:

Assist municipal clients with needs assessments and prepare funding applications, focusing on public infrastructure. Develop and write clear, concise project-funding proposals that meet agency requirements and tie projects to funding sources. Administer SEH client projects to ensure successful delivery and respond to client inquiries to solve community and economic development needs. Identify financing scope, interface with funding sources to assess feasibility, and attend client meetings to share accurate financing information. Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including government officials and community groups, to facilitate understanding and participation in development programs. Establish and maintain effective relationships with government officials and agencies, work efficiently with SEH service areas, and organize and track projects and funding sources.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field Demonstrated success in Municipal Grant Funding Writing and Administration Demonstrated understanding of State(s) Funding/Agencies processes and requirements Knowledge of federal funding application processes and requirements and ability to communicate them effectively to internal and external stakeholders Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an aptitude for crafting compelling content. Ability to travel for client meetings as required Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) year’s relevant experience in Minnesota Experienced in preparing and delivering presentations to potential clients, partners, and proposal reviewers, showcasing the value and impact of engineering solutions for community development. Proficient in tracking and reporting on application progress and outcomes using spreadsheets and Hubspot, ensuring accuracy and consistency of data and documentation. Understanding of funding agency evaluation criteria and ability to tailor engineering proposals to highlight technical, social, and environmental benefits. Familiar with grant administration and compliance, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing, and knowledgeable in planning, zoning, land use, and comprehensive planning. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team, providing input on funding opportunities and strategies, with strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail Preference given to candidates residing in the St. Paul / Minneapolis Metro Area
