Please note a valid LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) licensure in the State of Minnesota is highly preferred. 

To provide clinical  assessment, diagnostic and treatment services to clients and families; to participate with other mental health care professionals in the development, implementation and evaluation of client treatment plans; to provide training and guidance to other mental health care providers in the psychosocial aspects of client mental health care; and to perform related duties as assigned. This position is specifically assigned to Ramsey County Corrections and will support the mental health needs of clients at the Ramsey County Correctional Facility, Juvenile Detention Center, and within various probation office locations in St. Paul.

This position is for Y-CORe, which is the substance use disorder treatment. This position works with both adolescents and adults.

Flexible Workplace
This position is identified under the designation of ‘flex work eligible’, meaning that the employee can formally opt to be in-office full-time or work a flex schedule in which at least two-days per week are performed in office and other days can be performed in a remote-first environment. Regardless of selection, the position carries expectations regarding on-site responsibilities and will require schedule flexibility beyond the minimum expectations set forth in the county’s flexible workplace policy. Responsibilities

Examples of Work Performed

  1. Promote a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful workplace.
  2. Conduct mental health intake and assessment of clients by conducting interviews and conferring with other mental health care professionals in order to make clinical diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
  3. Provide direct individual, group, couple and family psychotherapy along with other therapeutic techniques in order to provide the most appropriate and effective treatment response for clients based on diagnosis and treatment plan.
  4. Develop and conduct short and long term mental health group therapy for specific populations in order to assist clients in coping more successfully with mental health problems and to reduce symptomology.
  5. Perform court ordered clinical evaluations of families and individuals in order to assist the courts in case disposition. May testify in legal proceedings in the capacity of expert witness if so designated by the court.
  6. Document case activities by charting care activities, maintaining statistics and corresponding through memorandum and letter to other service providers.
  7. Comply with state regulations by participating on an interdisciplinary team in order to evaluate the quality of mental health staff performance.
  8. Provide input into the development of needed services by serving on planning teams or various community groups.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, or other field that qualifies for designation as a Licensed Mental Health Professional under State law.

Experience: Post Masters Degree Experience as required for licensure as a Mental Health Professional under State Law.

Certifications/Licensure: Licensure by the State of Minnesota as a Mental Health Professional. 

Other: Please note this is a grant funded position. LADC certification is highly preferred. 

Exam/Screening Process Information

The examination process will consist of the following section with each section weighted as indicated:
Training and Experience Rating = 100%
 
The examination for Mental Health Professional will consist of a training and experience rating, comprised of the questions in the attached supplemental questionnaire. Not all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will pass the training and experience rating.  The rating on this supplemental questionnaire will depend on your answers to the questions – do not mark “see resume” or “see work history” as a response. Please answer all your questions clearly and completely.  Failure to respond could affect your score and final rank on this examination.
 
Eligible List:  The names of all applicants who filed a properly completed application and passed the examination/screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for an employment opportunity as a Rule of the List. This list will be certified to the appointing authority which may use this list to conduct interviews to fill a vacancy. Candidates will remain on the Rule of the List, list for 1 month or until hired, whichever occurs first. A notice will be sent to applicants at the time the eligible list is posted, informing them that the list has been posted and their rank on the list.
 
 Veteran's Preference:  This is a classified position requiring an open, competitive selection process.  Veteran's Preference points will be applied after a candidate passes the examination process.  Applicants who are eligible for veteran's preference should update their veteran's DD214, and other supporting documents, and submit them as an attachment at the time of application.
