Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with case managers, classroom teams, and support services to ensure student needs are being met.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the students’ daily programs under the direction of the Supervisor, case manager, and classroom teacher.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment including-but-not-limited-to preparing needed materials and supplies for your assigned student or classroom.
  • Observe, record, and collect data on behavior and specific IEP goals.
  • Assist in student organizational needs.
  • Support student sensory regulation needs.
  • Provide physical assistance to students in areas of daily living; such as toileting and/or feeding.
  • Intervene as necessary to redirect the student's target behavior and de-escalate behavior that puts the student or other person at risk of injury.
  • Consistently implement safety expectations, including correct use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training programs and/or conferences designed to promote professional development.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff and student families.
  • Maintain and use positive, professional written communication with all individuals.
  • Supervise activities to ensure safety.
  • Regular, prompt attendance.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree or equivalent 
  • Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Candidates must have have passed or have the ability to pass the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam or have completed 60 semester/90 quarter credits or obtained an associate's degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution. (Documentation will be required)
  • Knowledge and experience working with students on the autism spectrum and low incidence disabilities
  • One year previous experience in a middle school or high school setting
  • Valid driver’s license/ability to transport students via school vehicle (must have 3 or less moving violations in the last three years and no DWI/DUI convictions within the past 5 years).
  • Knowledge and experience working with Google Apps
